Hike

The region around Bamberg offers a variety of hiking opportunities. It doesn't matter whether you like to go for leisurely walks or prefer challenging mountain tours, there is something for everyone here. Franconian Switzerland, which is about 30 minutes from Bamberg, is particularly popular with hikers and offers breathtaking scenery with rocks, forests and rivers.

Bamberg Old Town Circular Trail

This circular route leads through the historic old town of Bamberg and is about 5 kilometers long. It starts at the town hall and leads to many well-known sights such as the Bamberg Cathedral, the Old Court and the Altenburg. The path is well signposted and leads through picturesque alleys and over romantic bridges.

Bamberg-Bug circular hiking trail:

This hiking trail is about 13 kilometers long and leads through the nearby Steigerwald. The path starts in Bamberg and leads over the Bug, a prominent rock towering over the city. The trail offers stunning views of the city and surrounding area, and passes through dense forests and quaint villages.

Frankenweg

The Frankenweg is a 520-kilometer long-distance hiking trail that leads through Franconian Switzerland. The path starts in Bamberg and leads through a breathtaking landscape with rocks, forests and rivers. The trail is divided into 23 stages and offers a variety of different landscapes and challenges for hikers.
